Did you guys also know that we were mentioned on Hawaii News Now on Channel 9. Last week they talked about the achievements of how our class and the other teams and schools won and brought home awards to their islands. They also had pictures from Orlando that someone took. They just wanted to congratulate them and us for doing great. They also mentioned how much awards were won in all. There were 31 awards they said that were bought back to Hawaii. Well I know that this is a little short but... In conclusion, last week we were also mentioned by Hawaii News Now on channel 9.
What my best and worst parts of the trip were? Well the worst part about my trip was making my classmate cry, and the the best part of the trip was going to places like Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Universal Studios, and the last best thing on the trip was taking home honorable mention in the PSA Competition!
So the worst part about the trip was making my classmate cry. We were on a tour at Universal Studios and I noticed that he weren't going on the rides that we were going on since it was part of the tour. So when we went on this one ride I said common Ben this is the second ride you didn't go on, and then when I looked away after 10 seconds, he was crying. I didn't mean to make him feel bad, so automatically I said I was sorry. Mr.M talked to me about it and after that me and Ben were getting along again! The first best part of the trip was going to the theme parks. We went to really fun theme parks like magic kingdom, universal studios, and like every time we had to wake up early because we had tours but anyways we were on tours like I said, the best part about that is that we can go on the rides first, most of the time. We also had some free time to ourselves after the tours so we could go on simulations, more rides, go do a little shopping, and eat food. Sure it's a little expensive, but it's worth it. And the last best part of the trip is when we won Honorable Mention in the PSA competition, that was the best feeling ever when you place against 23 or more Middle Schools. Me and Isa jumped up from our seats when we heard our school we couldn't believe it, even if it was honorable mention we placed. In conclusion, there were some good and bad times on this trip. So this past Wednesday after we had to go to the Kauai County Building to get recognized by the County Council for coming back from Orlando, Florida and bringing home some awards. The teams who placed and didn't place went up and spoke our names and what we did and We were put on TV also, because the day after that it went live and people saw it including my family. The weird thing when I was watching there are always those captions so people could read, and every time I said my name it was spelled wrong. But anyways we were recognized for our work we did.
Hey so this weeks blog is about what kind of community service's we could do, as is says in Mr.M's blogs and my title. The community has done a lot for us and supporting us and helping us get to Florida. So I was thinking we could clean up the beaches, do something for the elderly , or put flowers on the graves for all the soldiers who died in battle.
The first thing we can do is help clean up the beaches. We could help by keep all of the rubbish from going into the ocean and killing our reef and sea life. We live on a beautiful island and many people go to our beaches, so by doing a rubbish clean up we can keep our beaches clean and keep our island beautiful and make people want to come and swim freely in clean waters! The second thing we can do is help the elderly , like we could show our videos and projects that we did in the past. The last thing we can do is put flowers on all the graves of all the soldiers who served died in the army, on Memorial day. In conclusion, it would be better if we did this once every quarter because many people has sports and are busy with projects and other stuff. But community service is a good idea to give thanks to the community for all they did for us. So from last week we have been having 100 minute classes due to HSA Testing and that is really good becausemw and my 4th QTR partner Alaysia can work on our project more and start filming, for 4th QTR. me and Alaysia will be doing a Music video. Right now we are working on our script and our treatment. Almost everyone e in the class has a partner and also there were a lot of people who were doing music video and movie trailer, some even got their scripts approved and they can already start filming. We have these hundred minute classes for periods 3,4,5,6,7,&8 but same schedule on Wednesday.
Well in the end, these 100 minute classes are an advantage for us and doing our 4th QTR Project! During this past trip I learned some valuable lessons and 3 lessons I learned was during opening ceremony when the student of the year Cameron Quan it may be some things I already new but it's valuable he said to be humble, teamwork, and motivation, I also learned this quote during a breakout session and it thought I should share it. This guy named Dave Wertheimer he said "We live our lives in cuts, we dream in dissolve." Well anyway back to the topic!
When we had our competitions like Sweet 16 and PSA the important thing that we had to do was teamwork, during the PSA and sweet 16 we helped each other out when things got complicated and stressed, like use me for example I was the one stressing the most on the trip but everyone my team helped me also when we were coming up with how we were going to do Sweet 16 we got some help but we all pitched in ideas and we worked as a team to choose and make it happen. Next when we were submitting the Sweet 16 entry Castaic Middle School were helping us cheer us on, and when we were sad and stressed we all helped motivate that team. To me motivation is something like helping someone feel better and to try harder. And importantly be humble, during the ending ceremony, it is a happy thing to know that your school won but stay humble to be honest I don't think we were humble. But this is a valuable lesson to me because it's mean for people not to be humble well sometimes. Remember like our PSA The Golden Rule! In conclusion during the past trip I learned some valuable lessons 3 lessons I learned was from opening ceremony, it may be something I already know but, Cameron Quan Student of he year said to be humble, teamwork, and motivation! This year we have already come back from our trip and we are doing 4th QTR Projects and also, I am not coming back next year, but I'm going to talk about advice for the students who are coming back to Media. This year I was on the PSA Team for the STN Competition and I was also on Sweet 16 Broadcast team. Both competitions are hard and stressful so don't think that it's easy (just like all other competitions),next always finish at the deadline, and last do your best! There will be breakout sessions also to kind of help you if your lucky that your competition is after breakout.
When we did our Sweet 16 Competition we had to do 2 PSA's but if the topic is hard you can do commercial or something, that's what we did. When you do a PSA don't over think things because if you over think you sometimes get stressed like us to be honest. After your done with filming check if you need to film more and if you don't go straight to editing. The Main editor needs the edited video to put it in a 10 min. Video or less, so when your editing there is some pressure on you to get it done and given to the main editors. During that time you might get stressed over something's but after your done and the main editors submit it you have sometime to be stress free. During any competition you need to finish on time, get your filming done on time, editing done on time, and video submitted and turned in on time because you won't get a second chance. Or else you wouldn't place for one, and for some other reason you didn't turn it in. So make sure you use your time in production time and editing time wisely. And when you think it's good enough submit it and turn it in. Also no one will help you except your editing partner. And last make sure you do your best and give it your all, you are challenging other middle schools too. Before you go up to STN you will be having STN practices so your prepared. And to end it, this is my advice for all students who are going to STN next year. Don't take competitions easy, finish everything on time, and do your best! |
